Excellent service and food here. GF is vegan and she was very pleased with the choices she had and the portions were certainly more than enough for the price; I took almost 1/2 mine home! Chicken was fantastic and literally fell off the bone in the delicious spicy sauce I had. Highly recommend this off the beaten path Ethiopian restaurant for a great dinner out here in Bethesda!
Haven't been to Ethiopian in more than a decade so I don't have a solid baseline to measure against. 3 of us went and got the largest sampler that included 10 items, 4 of which are meats. It was plenty for 3 people and probably adequate for 4, unless all are big eaters. The meats were very good. We ordered them spicy and they had some heat, but were not overpowering, especially since you eat a bite of it and then move on to other items. The vegan items were tasty, but did include salad and beets, which were nothing special. Prices for beer were in the $5 range for brand name, mass market beer on tap.
Probably it deserves only 4 stars, but it provides a nice change of pace at affordable prices so I gave it 5 stars. Go with a few people and share the variety of foods.
I found the portions to be excessive, perhaps to justify the price. Of the Bethesda Ethiopian choices, I prefer Lucy and Delina, as the prices are better and the food is just as good. I think Michelin has really overrated this place.
Excellent quality. Excellent flavors. Very good price. Nice patio and screened in seating.
This was my first time trying Ethiopian food and, I have to say, I was impressed. Really complex, bold flavors, delicious vegetables, and great meats. I'd say the bread was the weakest part of the meal, but I don't know if the bread is always like that or it was a poor representation.
I will say the staff could have been a little more helpful and friendly throughout the process.
