When I went there it was obviously brand new and barely opened perhaps they didn't even have a grand opening yet. The food was terrific. The nice lady who apparently took our order and made the food was spectacular. Friendly courteous knew all about the menu.

I know I had the fish that was boiled that day and I think it was a flounder which was available fried as well. I asked if I can get it broiled and they just didn't bread it. Food was cooked perfectly. The sides were delicious it's been awhile and I just don't remember exactly what they were but I remember that I want to go back soon or maybe even make it a regular place. Not that I have many of those.
It was nice sitting in a place with a lot of windows and looking diagonally across to where the Anchor Inn used to be dark romantic distinguished and delicious food and I hear a great bar. I was only at the bar to sit down and have dinner once with the date cuz we didn't want to wait for the restaurant to have a table.

Anchor seafood place is replacing the Anchor Inn in name alone. It is not any longer a dark romantic classy wood panel restaurant with a bar. This restaurant which is diagonally across the street from where the Anchor Inn used to be is right clean ultimately neat walled by glass. It is brand new when I went a few weeks ago. There was a very nice lady who is very busy trying to take care of a couple of carryout orders and new people coming in to ask questions.

She was very charming and sweet when she came to take our order and explain questions we had about the menu. Apparently she then went in and made us and absolutely delicious dinner. The fish was cooked perfectly flaky and obviously fresh. The side dishes and sides with the entree where delicious. And my friend and I who were what you would call Big Boys were afraid we hadn't ordered enough food. You know those French that cost a lot of money cuz it's French and then they bring you a plate with two pieces of crossed breadsticks and a cute attractive dish of 3 oz piled up of vegetables and the actual entree somewhere in that pile. And then the price is exorbitant. Not a great mix for two Burly men who are hungry. Anchor seafood place is a place to go for a good meal for good price well made that will leave you smiling and maybe even rubbing your tummy you feel so good about what you just ate.

The fried entree and sides were crisp on the outside and delicately cooked perfectly on the inside. My broiled fish was terrifically seasoned flaky buttery with lemon on the side if I wished. My friend weighing in at 300 lb Plus eyes bulged size of his dinner. He thought it wasn't going to be enough. But it was so rich and delicious he didn't even want to go somewhere for dessert afterwards and I mean to Desert after dessert.

I'm sure this place is going to be getting more popular as people try it sitting right there on the corner of Georgia Avenue and University Boulevard diagonally across from the historic sign exclaiming Anchor Inn which used to be there. But at least here at Anchor Seafood Place my friends and I beloved memories of the Anchor Inn where well remembered in the modern digs.

Crabs were good (not salted or spiced heavily) and only $2.50 each when they cost $350 a bushel is not bad at all. Drink prices were on par for any restaurant in the area. Dance floor was small but adequate for the number of people there. DJ only spoke in Spanish which unfortunately I do not speak. Otherwise we had a good time. Staff was friendly.

I stopped by 2 weeks ago and got the red snapper dinner to go. Nice ambiance. Big screen TV. Very nice man who helped me. Even gave me tips on how he likes to eat the snapper. It was really delicious. I'll come back.

This was a cozy spot..my first time trying them out. I ordered the shrimp and it came fried which was disappointing because I was expecting grilled. I spoke with the manager Gustavo who explained that they only grill the shrimp when asked. I explained to him I needed grilled because my kid has a gluten allergy and he was more than happy to assist me. He was very nice and friendly. The food was delicious!! I was happy and so was my kid. I will be visiting again. Oh and an other thing he was very honest....another customer came in asking about crab legs and the price. Gustavo honestly explained to her how many clusters(which was very few) she was getting for the price(which was high because crab legs are out of season). I can appreciate a owner who looks out for his customers best interest.
