Looooove Hangry Joe’s!! The chicken sandwich is consistently crispy, juicy, and perfectly seasoned every single time. Their coleslaw has the right balance of sweet and tang- also tastes light and refreshing. The portions here are huge but I still finish my sandwich because it’s too delicious not to. Really happy that I can get a quality Nashville hot chicken sandwich right here in Montgomery County!!

Allow me to start with a benign rant. Don't get me wrong. I ADORE Peruvian rotisserie chicken...but, it has also been said that it is possible to have TOO MUCH of a good thing. Such is the case with Peruvian pollo in Wheaton. There are easily 9 or 10 within a 3 minute drive of Wheaton Westfields Plaza. Within a 3-minute walk of each other are FOUR of the best. On Ennalls Avenue there are THREE IN THE SAME SHOPPING CENTER!

This is why it was such a welcomed sight to see one of the long-time pollo places on Ennalls (the former El Pollo Kiki Riki) make the bold move to step away from the safe and monotonous and leap into one of the edgy-ist, adventurous American food trends in the world: Nashville-style HOT Chicken. Rest in peace El Pollo Kiki Riki. Long live HANGRY JOE'S!!

For anyone who has never had Nashville hot chicken, it is different than just about anything else you've had. It is breaded, deep-fried, and infused with a mélange of spices and seasonings that simultaneously create savory-ness, sweetness, acidity, and HEAT. The flavor is deep into the meat and your fingers are left coated with this delicious yellow juice. Big pieces of white meat chicken that come in the form of nuggets, fingers, sandwiches, salads, loaded fries, AND chicken & waffles. It pairs wonderfully with fries, coleslaw, pickles, iced tea, AND bubble tea. Hangry Joe's has all of it.

If you're worried about the heat, fear not. On every order, you have to specify one of the six heat levels, ranging from "No Seasoning" to "Angry Hot". (I'm a hot food eater and I found "Hot" - the 5th heat level to be plenty hot for me.) If you're one of these crazy people you can opt for "Angry Hot" which requires you to sign a waiver.

I've eaten there twice - once eat in and once carry-out. The quality and freshness was consistent both times. The self-serve soda fountains are well-stocked with soda and tea. Fresh bubble tea and slushes are available. The place is brand new, well-lit, with good seating, and nice CLEAN bathrooms. Portions are decent and prices are about what you expect nowadays. The ordering touch screen works very well and speeds things up if there is a line. Note: Be prepared to wait at least 5 minutes for your order. IT'S WORTH IT. Your food comes out piping hot!

The arrival of Hangry Joe's to the Wheaton Triangle represents more than just a new eatery. It is nearly unprecedented for this area of Wheaton to get this sort of popular chain to set up shop in the middle of small mom and pop businesses. As the surrounding neighborhood becomes more upscale, more gourmet and specialty eateries will appear. The mom and pop places will also up their games to compete. For those who have long admired the gastronomic attractions of Wheaton, this is the beginning of a new era.

HEY. Yeah YOU. Stop wasting your time reading this review and get yourself a CHICKEN SANDO and KOREAN CHICKEN NUGGETS. SPICY all the way. Hurry, before the world comes crashing down. Pronto. Also, the cashier lady was really nice to me.

As some people confirmed, you get your money's worth here. Sandwiches are big and filling. Even if you get it "plain" the chicken is very well seasoned and flavorful. Very nice crunch with a nice texture coming form the coleslaw. Sandwiches are made to order and can come with any spice level you want. If you want to regret life for the next 2 hours and the following day, they have a spice level for you too. I went with medium and it was perfect for me. Even the dipping sauce with the fries was great! Wish it was closer to me but I guess I'll have to make an excuse to go to Wheaton/Silver Spring more. Forget Popeye's, this is better by far.
