Genesis Restorante

We have eaten in once and done carry out once and both experiences were awesome! We have toddlers and like that they have booths to “trap” them in and our kids loved the Christmas lights everywhere. The constant replenishment of chips and garlic bread (yum) kept the kids entertained and the white sauce for the chips... wow! We have only had the huaraches with al pastor and the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. The huaraches is so good! It’s the first time either of us has had it and it blew us away. You can tell it’s genuine Mexican food. This place is also great because my husband doesn’t love Italian but I do! The Alfredo was delicious and came with a huge portion of well seasoned chicken and garlic bread. The mango smoothie is also delicious! The owners/staff are so attentive, friendly, and appreciative. Genesis will be a frequent for us!

I had been wanting to try this place and had a little time to kill before the 7pm movie I wanted to see that was being shown at Asbury United Methodist Church. I walked the couple of blocks from the church down to the restaurant. It was uncomfortably warm. Either there was no air conditioning or they didn't want to turn it on but it made me think twice about whether to stay and eat. They sat me at a booth where the menu was already waiting on the table. I ordered a sweet tea and as I was looking over the menu a waitress brought our some tortilla chips with a red salsa and a white sauce. I was disappointed to find the white sauce was like a ranch dressing as opposed to the white sauce I really enjoy at another popular Mexican restaurant across town. The red salsa was very bland with no heat at all. I attempted to make the salsa more palatable by adding some of the habanero sauce that was on the table. That was a mistake. Not only did I not like the flavor of the habanero sauce, it took the salsa from no heat to too much heat for my taste. I ordered the Chile Rellenos as my main course. They were really quite good as were the black beans and rice that accompanied them. I would skip the sweet tea as it had a sour taste like happens if you leave it out of the refrigerator too long. The three star rating is only because of the main course. I might try them again if they can get their air conditioning working. If they actually get a copy of this review, I hope they will find a better salsa recipe as well.

Today was my third visit to Genesis. Every meal has been consistent perfection! There were four of us today and we got carryout. I can't imagine how their chef can create four different meals, in less than 20 minutes, that all have fresh ingredients, none were overcooked and even the presentation is lovely. This place is an undiscovered gem. Highly recommend.

This was our 3rd lovely dinner at Genesis. Wonderful ambience, & delightful staff. I enjoy the fresh & provincial items on the menu -not your ordinary dishes- a great & affordable dining adventure. Just give it a whirl! You'll be glad you did. There's Italian dishes too if you prefer.
