The Mayflower Cafe is an excellent place to eat after a day in Cape Cod or in Provincetown. Normally when I order seafood at other restaurants I always feel like the serving size does not justify the high price. Here, however, the food is very filling and satisfying.
My table started with generous bowls of clam chowder which was creamy and delicious. I ordered the Baked Seafood Casserole which is a baked dish of scallops, scrod, a large shrimp, and Ritz cracker stuffing. The scallops were cooked marvelously and the crispy stuffing paired well with the seafood.
The service was also great and our waiter consistently came over to our table to check on us throughout our meal. He was also very knowledgeable about the menu when we asked for clarifications and recommendations on what to order.
A step back to an earlier time. If you like diners from around the sixties, this is your place. Nothing fancy about the decor for sure, but nice BIG booths and friendly service. The menu is simple, featuring a lot of seafood with their Ritz Cracker topping. Our tip is to order their 1 1/4 lb lobster dinner or their twin lobster dinner if you are up for it. Delicious and less expensive than any other place in town we know.
Ordered the Grilled Chicken Sandwich the chicken was well cooked. Only giving three stars because the sandwich has opportunity to grow with a sauce. Just to take it to another level of flavor. Also the lettuce was very large in proportion to the sandwich leaving a few bites of just lettuce.
Great Lobster Roll and delicious Cole slaw and Fries. They put a lot of meat in their lobster rolls and the dressing is flavorful but not overpowering. They also have a great 2 x 1 1/4 lb lobsters for $39. Its a great deal. Only issue is some of the younger servers are a little slow and not the most attentive.
