Old Forge Restaurant

I'm glad it was such a nice day when I was in town so we could sit outside. It's very dark inside and outside has a beautiful view for this suburbanite. It was such a nice treat to smell the lilac bush out front. How I miss that scent down south. I had a wonderful turkey sandwich on focaccia. The service was quick and friendly, and there's plenty of parking, which pretty much checks off all the major boxes for me.

The Old Forge is a really cool place. Very good food from a broad menu and an amazing beer list. Very friendly staff. I will definitely be back soon.

Beer selection is great. Got some local history from the owner while being seated. Everyone was very happy with food. Limited offerings if you're dairy free. Ended up with portabello burger, hold the cheese, very tasty. Fries are cooked in same fryer as some buttermilk coated food, decided to risk the cross contamination and did fine. Rest of my party all loved the food. It was all well prepared, delicious. Would love to see more dairy free, but that's just me. ????

Beware of pricing. Two dozen wings $23.9, 1.5 dozen $25.50 (half a dozen of each of the 3 flavors). (Initially we were charged $29 but we caught it and asked for a correction). Even the waitress was dumbfounded but we were never told, nor is it listed on the menu. We felt badly scammed!

Wings are crispy and flavorful. I love the slight curry flavor of the Buff Orfington wings. The hot wings have a lot of heat but not too much. French onion soup is cheesy with balanced flavors. Exactly what you want on a cold day. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and flavor of the steak. I have not had a bad meal, but the draw of the place is definitely the beer. They have at least 20 beers on tap at any moment, plus a booklet of all the bottled selection. The taps rotate frequently. Get a beer card, record 50 different beers in 1 year, and get a mug for your first card. Subsequent cards get you $20 or other items. This is a great place, and the back deck has wonderful views in nice weather.
