My fiancé’ and I were looking for an authentic Portuguese restaurant in New Bedford and went to Mimo’s after reading the great reviews.

We were not let down. We ate in the bar side where always feel more comfortable. The waitress was very polite, professional, and friendly. We then met this gentleman Scott and told him our story on how we chose the restaurant. We chatted for a bit, again a very nice, professional, and friendly.

At the time we didn’t know it, but Scott was the owner’s son who was running the place while his dad was on vacation. I told him I was very hungry and he asked me what I like and I told him. For an appetizer he suggested the long necks in garlic and oil. Then he asked me what I wanted to order for dinner. I told Scott to order it for me. I will say this had to be one of the best meals I’ve had in a very long time!

My fiancé had the grilled pork sirloin with French fries and rice.

    EVERYTHING WAS FANTASTIC!

The beer was cold, the food was GREAT, the service was GREAT, and the prices were incredible! That meal would’ve cost almost twice as much in the area I live. We already are planning to go back with my son and daughter in-law within the next couple of weeks.

This is the first 5 Star review I’ve ever given.

Thanks Scott for being a classy guy and you did your dad proud in his place.

    We’ll be back for sure!

This is the place to go for Home Cooked Portuguese Food. I asked my mechanic for some suggestions and he told me this is where he goes for lunch so I thought I would give it a try and so glad I did. As I walked In I was Greeted with a smiling host. She was kind, Courteous and Professional. I asked for some recommendations and she was Happy to explain each item. Asking what I was in the mood for? I started out with Kale Soup and it was delicious and tasty. Then I picked the Steak Sandwich with French Fries and another perfect choice. The Steak was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. It was so tender and fell apart in my mouth. The Portuguese Roll was so Fresh. I also had a side cup of Portuguese Beans. The beans was cooked with Chourico and Thick Bacon Pieces. The Prices are very reasonable and good portions. They have a Full Bar and offer a Expresso Menu too. Please Try This Place you will Truly Enjoy every Minute of your time there. 4 Diamonds is what I would have rated this place if giving the opportunity. Kid Friendly Also!

In my eyes Cafe Mimo is one of the top Portuguese restaurants in the city offering both friendly service and delicious authentic Portuguese food. I've been coming here since I was a kid. Their Steak, Chicken Mozambique and Pork Meat Alentejana are amongst my favorite dishes here and remind me of the home cooked meals you get back in the Azores. It was also nice seeing them featured and recognized as one of the areas top restaurants on Phantom Gourmet. Keep up the great work guys! I can't wait to go back.

Just finished digesting R.R.'s acerbic, make that acidic, review of last weekend. If she and her party approached the experience of enjoying this venerable, highly locally appreciated family restaurant, just wonderfully reviewed by the Phantom, with the attitude conveyed by that review, it's no wonder they got along with no one and every one of them got a stomach ache, heck you gave me one without eating! Their Chicken Mozambique is a favorite, special for its creamy sauce, as made clear in their description, and is wonderfully reviewed on the tv show and here by patrons who eat it frequently. Lighten up, go to a restaurant to relax, have fun, and appreciate what makes the place different and unique.
