If you want a family friendly place it's good. This is a good place for a quick descent lunch. If you are looki6for high quality and willing spend a little bit more definitely go elsewhere.

You can never go wrong with Captain Carlo's. Their food is fresh, quick and delicious, as well as a good value. I have to visit every time I am fortunate enough to find myself in Gloucester.

Our party of 7 feasted for almost 2 hours trying different drinks and food. We were all super happy with the tentative service, the friendly staff, and the fresh amazing food! It was a little hard to hear for the first 30 minutes since we were sitting on the patio and they had live music going but once that ended it was fine. I highly suggest the clam chowder! Yum!

Here now, wait staff super friendly from the moment i walked in with my wife and 3 kids. Seated us within minutes. Clam chowder was amazing. Thick and flavorful, lobster roll was huge on a real grilled roll. Not one of those dinky hot dog rolls. Kids menu was spot on covered enough variety for all of my kids. Fries and coleslaw both on the top of the score chart. My six year old ate a burger that looks like it was built for a full size adult. Guess it was good, chicken tenders disappeared from my sons plate. Fair prices ( market price is market price) no way around that.

This place is okay. The food is nothing special, chowder is very very thick literally looks like mashed potatoes, not my preference for soup but I know some people like that. Crab cakes were average. Onion rings are pretty good but kinda greasy. Fish tacos were the best out of what we ordered. The outdoor patio is nice, but they allow smoking everywhere outside and it ruins the atmosphere. I understand it’s a bar scene, but there is plenty of space towards the parking lot where they could have a designated smoking area instead. I smoked for years in college— I’m not afraid of cigarettes— but smelling it in your face while eating is just disgusting. And this was at 1 pm on a Sunday so I can’t imagine how bad it gets. Seems like more of a local place for 50s crowd (who else still smokes?) not really what we were looking for as tourists seeking a clam shack vibe. Great service tho very nice people working there.
