We have been there several times and both the food and service have been wonderful! There really isn’t any place on the North Shore that serves this quality of food. So grateful!!

Fantastic flavors and beautiful creativity! Get the Truffula Tree while you can! Chile lime under the perfectly cooked Scottish salmon, zucchini and black rice is brilliant and bright. Carrot cake is complex, yet sublime. Go to Brown Square Bistro for culinary adventure in a modern setting.

Of all the towns they could have picked to open this wonderful new restaurant, we’re so thankful that the owners, Tom and Jeannie Di Silva decided to bring their creation to Ipswich! My husband and I enjoyed one of the most special dining experiences we’ve ever had anywhere on the north shore. Refined and yet casual, the Brown Square Bistro provides foodies with the kind of adventurous cuisine, exceptional service and polished yet comfortable atmosphere one only finds in some of the better Boston restaurants. All this and no nighttime drives into the city. It’s the kind of place this town has needed and it fills a niche all its own.

Last Saturday we were warmly greeted at the door and took a seat at one of the high tops in the large bar area. Our waiter, Ricardo was an absolute gem, with obvious experience in the food industry. After serving us delicious cocktails, he was so helpful and knowledgeable, answering all our questions. The menu has several entree choices, priced well, and a creative cut above what most restaurants offer. But the small plates and shared plates were what we were excited to try and they did not disappoint.

We decided on sharing several dishes …the lamb lollipops which were beautifully presented were absolutely delicious. The mushroom toast was swoon worthy served as a grilled focaccia, mushroom, honey and cheese combo, so earthy and delectable. The lobster bisque was a heavenly surprise, the bisque uniquely served from an individual carafe over a bed of lobster salad. After the first bite we honestly couldn’t speak! Ambrosial, savory, chef’s kiss?… words cannot describe how good this was. And the pickled beet salad with lemon ricotta, pear, and the freshest greens was appetizing, original and palate pleasing. These 4 shared dishes made a satisfying and delightful dinner. Plus the owners were so friendly, taking time to check in on each customer during the evening. Thank you Tom and Jeannie!

We topped the evening off with the crème brûlée which was outstanding, and the carrot cake. I’ve made and tried so many yummy carrot cake recipes over the years, but Chef Liam’s take on this classic was truly superior. In fact this chef is an Ipswich treasure, …this man has some skills! We’ve been praising his talents all week and are planning to come back with friends and family in the future. They even have a nice kids menu which encourages families to enjoy a night out together in their own home town.

This place is upbeat and welcoming with a genuine team spirit that we could feel and appreciate. Once the “secret” of this place gets out, we predict it will become wildly popular. Thanks to the whole lovely staff for an amazing dining experience.

I went with a friend to check it out. We shared the Angel Eggs (shown in photo), Grilled Baby Romaine and the Bolognese, all delicious and beautifully presented...my favorite that night was the Bolognese. The table next to us had the Lobster Bisque and I think I will try that next time. The severs were very attentive and personable, and my Brown Square rye cocktail was perfectly balanced!
Brown Square Bistro differs from other restaurants in Ipswich with a feeling of refinement, and I think it makes a nice addition to the town. I hope you have years of success!

Great food and atmosphere. The mussels were amazing and I could not get over the amount in the serving. Can’t wait to go back.
