Hawthorne Hotel

When we chose the Hawthorne Hotel for our wedding it was a combination of the amazing staff we got to know at one of their open houses and the elegance of the entire venue. However, their flexibility and hospitality came through in full force when we needed to postpone over a year due to the pandemic. Working with our day-of coordinator, June, was incredible, and she was amazing at answering all our questions and helping us plan and organize a day that was perfect for us. The serving staff were all fantastic, from the waiters / waitresses to the bartenders, and I appreciated how communicative everyone was whenever we had questions or needed to coordinate our vendors with the venue. Plus, for the price, the Hawthorne includes so many perks that other venues were trying to charge extra for. If you want a picture-perfect wedding with the best staff in historic Salem, MA, definitely book the Hawthorne today!

Spent two nights there for a wedding. Rooms were great! Everything was perfectly clean. Great shower. Beds very comfy. Had several meals in the hotel bar/restaurant. Great meals with fair prices. Hosted a rehearsal dinner and after wedding breakfast. Great food and even better service. Would do all this at The Hawthorne again. Will definitely stay here again.

This hotel is full of history and charm! The location is perfect. We walked everywhere. The rooms and bathrooms are small but that is disclosed on the website. While we didn’t experience anything “paranormal” we appreciated the architecture and ambiance of this hotel. We did arrive before check in and our room was not available for an early check in. A staff member kindly stored our luggage for us and told us we would receive a text as soon as our room was available. We never received that text. We went back to the hotel on our on accord after 4pm. But we enjoyed Salem and our stay regardless.

The Hawthorne is a beautiful hotel with amazing service. It’s charming, unique, and the food at the Tavern is excellent.

We originally got a queen room, which we didn’t realize was a little small and only had a stall shower. The view we had was of the back parking lot, too, which wasn’t optimal. We went to the front desk and asked if there was another room we could move to, as we were staying for almost a week. Surprisingly, we were offered a king suite upgrade! When we come back we will definitely booking a suite again. On the 6th floor corner room, you can look out over all of Salem! Even though it was the haunted suite 612, it just added to the fun ☺️

All the staff at both the hotel and restaurant are kind, accommodating, and helpful. This is the perfect place to stay for anyone looking for a unique stay in the heart of Salem.

The staff were professional and helpful. I felt like they truly wanted us to have a good experience in Salem. I like that parking was free and just behind the building, the location is perfect, and the price was just right.
That and the food in their downstairs restaurant was phenomenal. We shared the swordfish which was mouthwatering. Our wait staff was kind and enjoyable to talk to.
