Staff was superb and drinks were delish
We were there Easter Sunday. They did not keep up with the demand at the Buffett. That being said, I thought that all of the food was good and the service was excellent.
We came to Amherst from New York city for college visits. Boltwood 30 was recommended by an acquaintance and it did not disappoint.
I started with a cocktail, the Tipsy Buddha - I think - which was both sweet and tart and deceptively strong.
My appetizer, the Pear Salad with Blue Cheese Mousse, was excellent. The mousse softened the usual bite of the blue cheese and the port gastrique sauce elevated the radicchio. (I'm not usually a fan.)
The highlight of the meal however, for me, was the aligot. My parents live in a region of France where it's a staple of the local fare and it isn't commonly found even in New York. It also isn't easy to make properly and this was a rare pleasure.
Their ice cream and sorbets are homemade, I had the blackberry and basil sorbet which was a lovely combination, if a bit too sweet for my taste.
It is obvious the chef works very hard at creating a wide array of tastes and sensations and is quite successful at it.
Lastly, it is worth mentioning that we stayed overnight and also had breakfast at 30 Boltwood. Their latte was excellent, we loved the New England breakfast, and the service was quick.
A special thanks to our wonderful (dinner) waiter, who could not have been more helpful or knowledgeable, both in the restaurant's fares and wines and local history and points of interests.
If you're in the area, you should go.
Nestled within the historic Inn at Boltwood, this fine dining establishment has to be experienced. The menu is always changing based on the local fresh ingredients that can be found. Service has always been outstanding. And the cocktails are some of the most original and tasty you will find in the area. If you're looking for a special dinner or date night in Amherst 30Boltwood can't be beat.
Excellent atmosphere. The seafood chowder was great: fresh tasting and definitely a great choice. The risotto was not as good: good truffle taste but the rice was slightly under done.
