Truly huge custom slices, equal to 2-1/2 of 3 slices in one! Hole in the wall atmosphere. Hasn't changed much in a decade.
Great local pizza place, and I visit it whenever I'm in town. I used to love Sam's, and it broke my heart when I walked toward it and it wasn't there. So I came here a couple of days ago and I enjoyed it. Never been before, but their chicken and veggie pizzas are great! I wish they had a veggie sandwich similar to Sam's Florence, but I'll continue to explore the menu. I haven't called to pre-order or anything, so I can't comment on any of it. All in all, it's a great alternative to my favorite local Italian eatery.
If you're looking for the perfect place in downtown NoHo to get a slice, you can't beat Mimmo's. Especially if you love a classic thin crust. The have the perfect amount of toppings, not so little your slice feels naked, not so many you feel like you're just biting into extras.
Me, I love getting anchovy and bacon, or anchovy and pineapple. But I'm weird like that.
Don't take my word for it though. Just go down, grab a slice, and you'll see.
Mimmo's is an interesting place. I will start with the bad then end with the good. Mimmo's is one of the dirtiest places to eat that I have ever seen. It's like eating out in the dirty alley of an old run down building. It's truly disgusting in there. The floor is always dirty. The walls are filthy. The air conditioner looks like it is blowing out mold not air. It is just filthy.
Now the area that they serve and prepare food has always been clean. I have never seen the food prep area dirty. So that kind of makes me feel good about the whole situation.
The guys that work there remind me of a rough auto mechanic. They are not the friendliest, you will not see any kind of kindness out of them but they are not rude either. They are just regular guys. I have never had a problem with them.
Now on to the food. The pizza is so good. Large thin slice that reminds you of old New York style pizza. 20 years ago the sauce used to be sweet but now after it is more of an acid taste. It is one of the best slices of pizza you will eat anywhere in this area.
So in conclusion, if you are the type of person that can overlook the lack of cleanliness in a restaurant and don't require a super friendly host or hostess to wait on you then you should definitely go try a slice of pizza at Mimmo's.
