It looks like a seafood place, but the pizza is wonderful. Close to Chicago-style, if that's your thing.

The Half Shell has been my go-to for the past 10 years for fast, inexpensive, quality sandwiches and pizza. I have never had a bad experience. The chicken and vegetable wrap, with swiss, is a revelation and showcases the owner's amazing chicken rub. Honestly, I don't know how he makes it so consistently delicious and tender. It's a family establishment and the team that runs the restaurant could not be more cordial or friendly - even during the busy hours at lunch. You see a lot of police officers and public service people throughout the day dining-down; that means a lot. They know their town and still choose Half Shell over all of the options available in Porter Square. I can't think of another establishment that offers this balance of casual with great food. I go back every time I'm on Mass Ave.
