A mom-and-pop neighborhood bakery, with solid bagels. They do a bagel like no other. Best I've had. Perfecly crispy on yhe outside, not tough, and like light like bread on the inside. I recommend getting a bagle sandwiches, and a sleeve to-go.
No preservatives in the bagels so make sure to put in the fridge right away!
Decent bagels for Boston, but I don't understand the hype surrounding their bagel sandwiches. Specifically, what's going on with their egg? I'm from the NY area and have pretty high standards for breakfast sandwiches. I've been here a few times when I need to satisfy my craving, but while it's better than most here, it's still seriously lacking. The other day, I watched them "cook" my egg. They heated up a dry egg patty (like McDonald's) and then plopped it on my bagel. This answers the question I had about their egg being underwhelming every time. The bagels themselves are decent, but after my first time here, I have to order them toasted (a perfectly fresh bagel shouldn't need toasting). It also makes me sad they don't offer meat (no bacon, egg, and cheese :( ), but I respect their reasoning behind this, and it doesn't cause me to deduct stars. Next time I go, I'll probably buy a half dozen and then make my own sandwiches at home.
Many decades ago this place was open and run by locals. The food is still very much worth going for. Most of the new employees are rude kids who I have a hard time believing have any connections to the bakery's ethnic traditions. Food still good. Warmth of environment lost.
Some of the best bagels I've ever had in New England!
They definitely get busy so it's good to order in advance or be prepared to wait a bit, but once I ordered my coffee and food came out within 10 minutes.
They also sell day-old bagels, muffins, and pastries at a steep discount. You can get 2 huge bags (up to 16 bagels) for $6 that still freeze/reheat beautifully.
