I’ve been to this restaurant a number of times for several different occasions including date night and birthday celebrations. This time I invited a client to lunch to celebrate her semi-retirement and discuss all things real estate. We received excellent service throughout our dining experience and both enjoyed a fabulous meal which was the special of the day. I highly recommend Select Oyster Bar for excellent seafood, a top wine list and tremendous service. The included picture is of our wonderful appetizer. Guten appetit!!!
I had the Arctic char ($33) and it was one of the best fish entrees I've had in a while, cooked to a perfect medium rare with a beautiful crisp skin. The octopus and salmon crudo were also good, although less memorable. The oysters were great as expected, and offered a nice local selection if not a particularly expansive one. Our waiter was really nice and attentive as well.
Excellent, fresh seafood. They pride themselves on having no microwave, fryer or freezer. Fish is brought in fresh daily.
Highly recommend oysters (try their homemade hot sauce), the petite clams, and scallop ceviche.
Special thank you to Josh - our sever - who was wonderful.
If you love fresh seafood and want the best of Boston oysters and lobster, this is the place! I recommend just going with the shared assortments of seafood and skipping the meal part. The scallop ceviche was also absolutely phenomenal! I can't wait to go back! The service is excellent, but the place is popular and small, so reserve!
Of the major oyster bars in Boston, Select Oyster Bar boasts the best mains by a mile. Very thoughtful, well-balanced plates with fantastic flavor and texture combinations. The raw selection easily goes toe to toe with Row 34 and Island Creek. There's a mandatory 20% service charge, which strikes me as a bit high, on top of prices that already run just slightly higher than Island Creek and Row 34.
