The 1761 Old Mill

Went there for Father's Day brunch. Always the same cold rubbery eggs. Seems to be the same with most of the breakfast items. The other offerings were good. I wish a place like this did an omelette bar then at least the eggs would be fresh and hot. Overall not a bad deal and the atmosphere is welcoming.

Resident geese and ducks provide endless entertainment when sitting outside. Sizzling platter was done just the way I like. Her salmon was exquisitely fresh. Staff were as friendly as we like and shared stories in the quiet afternoon. Waves on the pond made dazzling patterns on the ceiling. Other guests responded much as did we.

Spent a lovely Mother's Day at the Old Mill. They accommodated us with a last minute reservation. We were seated with a spectacular window view overlooking the old mill stream and wooden bridge. Mom loved the view and her homemade chicken pot pie! Although the restaurant was bustling, the service was prompt and friendly. A fitting tribute to my almost 99 year old Mom!

Well, let's start with the outside it was very picturesque with the waterfalls and covered bridges. As usual we started off with drinks while waitting they brought over some corn fritters and pecan rolls that were just delightful. We ate light today and split a cheese burger with all the fixings which was cooked just right and very juicy with an appetizer of potato skins that were loaded with lots of cheese and bacon bits and sour cream on the side. We had a group of six and all were very pleased. Definitely all of us will be going back.

Since I was a child this has been a favorite restaurant of mine with very fond memories. I can remember waiting impatiently to order so that my father could take us up to the front desk to reach into that great big basket and grab as much bread as we could so that we could go outside and feed the ducks! Now as an adult returning, I still get excited to feed the ducks, but I now get to appreciate the restaurant in a different way... the food! I have never been disappointed in anything that I have ordered! (And I am a very picky eater!) Every bite makes you want to close your eyes and chew slowly as to enjoy every flavor in your mouth! Sounds sappy... but I'm not kidding you! How else could a restaurant stay alive this long and still preserve that same feeling I get as we approach it and see the sign? Dining here can be a romantic evening, a family dinner, a wedding rehearsal dinner... it can be anything you want it to be!
