My Husband suggested Swedes for dinner - He was craving Pot Roast & I saw on the Special Alasken Pollack - Best fish since the VFW's Fish Fry. Excellent suggestion!!!
Yummy breakfast spot! Very friendly staff. Rob is the best.
Old timey dining at it's finest. This place looks like a tiny dump from the outside. Inside is old and has a lot of mismatched seating apparatus. There isn't really a menu to speak of. Yes, from the look of things this is going to be bad. WRONG! There were 4 "specials" that day, all $9.99 each. They were written out on a whiteboard over the old fashioned lunch counter.
We sat in a booth that has a table that does not match the seats. It was weird but it worked. I ordered the roast beef and the wife had the shrimp special. Both were great. We got out of there with a $30 bill that included a five dollar tip. I finished my roast beef dinner...just like mom used to make...and was "take a nap" full...the wife brought about 7 shrimp home which we ate the next day at lunch.
If you are looking for a fancy place with polished wait staff and matching flatware do not go here. If you want a real slice of Americana cleverly disguised as great food and service at a really fair price ...then yes by all means stop by and try it.
A fantastic Mom and Pop diner! Swedes Restaurant has been around seemingly for ever. I prefer to go to breakfast there rather than dinner. Weekends during peak times, there is usually a wait to be seated. The staff are well trained and friendly. The food is prepared as it should and served promptly. If your in mulliken and hungry stop by and grab some home cooking in a local small town eatery experience.
Wonderful smallish country restaurant or maybe even diner. One page breakfast menu, nothing fancy. Based on our experience, this means they do a limited number of things extremely well. Large helpings and prompt attentive service. The 4 egg ham and cheese omelet was packed, the hash browns were very nicely crisped and even the toast was very good, avoiding the limp worthless specimens that have become the norm anymore. Very reasonable prices as well. A little out of our way but we will look for excuses to go back.
