They have great from scratch food and always a friendly atmosphere. All the breakfast is awesome, I love getting the weekly specials! It’s just outside of okemos, worth the short drive from Lansing.
Honestly the food is great when cooked the way it's ordered. But over half the time i dont get what i asked for. Waitresses are extremely nice. But i will have to go elsewhere from now on. I have came in at least 3 times a week for 8 weeks now. Asked for the same order. 2 eggs over easy, CRISPY hash browns, bacon and white toast. Hash browns have been done correctly maybe 2 times. Bacon is usually under cooked., and the toast is either under toasted or hard/burned , from being over toasted.atleast once a week they cook one of the two eggs hard. If all the cooks had the same ability i would give another try.
Very nice small cafe. The food was very good. My husband ordered a Ruben Sandwich with onion rings. The Ruben was delicious and the onion rings were crunchy, not burned, big, and not oily. It was also a good amount of them.
I was not too hungry so I just got an egg salad sandwich. It was very creamy and sweet. The lettuce was crunchy not soggy and the bread lightly toasted. It was a bit messy to eat because of the good amount of egg salad on the bread. The wait staff are all very young but very polite and attentive. The food was very reasonably priced as well. Good find on our way back home!
Sunnyside Cafe boasts "nothin' fancy, just good food." I have to say, they delivered! We were driving through on our way home to Grand Rapids from Detroit, and decided to give it a try. We liked the slogan. Nothin' fancy means it is a simple space in a strip mall. Clean and efficient. Brightly colored. The staff was friendly, greeted us quickly, and got us drinks. The food came out quickly as well. We ordered a ruben sandwich with onion rings and egg salad with fries. The food was hot and fresh. The ruben was crispy on the outside, juicy and flavorful inside. The fries and onion rings were fried perfectly. It was all reasonably priced. Averaged about $10 each. The only negative would be that after bringing our food, our waitress never followed up with is. We never saw her again. No drink refills, etc. Another girl came and took our empty plates and brought our bill. Overall, we really enjoyed our stop at Sunnyside Cafe. If you want nothin fancy but good food, it is highly recommended!
