First thing you walk in and three female at the counter total ignored us at first. Then the waitress didn't know the drinks or the menu. I understand she is new but should take the initiative to learn the menu. Food was good though and the drinks.
This place is always cheap and delicious. Their bathrooms are always clean (although the last time I went one of the lights was a little wonky), and the staff is always super friendly, but not overly conversational. They make sure you're taken care of without interrupting your meal. Overall wonderful place!
Poor service. Only one person serving one side of the restaurant. This was after the Rose Parade in Jackson. Not crowded as expected though. One server for 6 different tables. Could be there were some call ins or just understaffed. Noticed afterwards that the seating area was not clean. Utensils, napkins and crayons under a table, which could have been from a previous patron but nonetheless the waiter kept walking by it. Food was good nonetheless.
I have been to my fair share of Mexican restaurants in Jackson by now and this one really takes the cake (or should I say "Tres Leches Cake"). Don't let this little shack of a building crammed onto the smallest lot on Michigan Ave. with an underwhelming sign pass you by. The food was phenomenal and prices were beyond reasonable!
The food variety itself was a typical Mexican restaurant variety, which means you have a plethora of chicken, steak, chorizo, and vegetarian options. And like most Mexican restaurants, the menu is flashy and a tad intense for the uninitiated. This isn't a ding against the restaurant since it is the norm for this genre.
I ordered a large burrito, thinking it was going to be a larger burrito. But no, was I wrong. Way wrong. This burrito filled my plate and some. It was so large and the price was so cheap (I think around $10, if that), and so good that I literally thought I was stealing. I also ordered a margaritas because it was happy hour and it was one of the only times that someone/someplace made tequila good.
The only reason I can't give 5/5 stars is because the service was uncharacteristically slow. We sat for about 10 minutes after eating, waiting for a check. I believe they were preparing for a birthday party later and it truly wasn't that big of a deal, but I rate all restaurants on the same measuring stick, so no difference here.
TL;DR - Phenomenal food, great prices, friendly, yet slow service. Completely worth your money.
It was good. Although something didn't agree with stomach.
I was halfway home. I pulled over and ended up vomiting.
I do not believe it had anything to do with my meal. I have been dealing with some health issues.
I'm being honest about what occurred. I certainly don't want too make the eatery look bad.
