Worth the drive to Portage for this food! Hot dog, combo (Italian sausage and beef), homemade pizza puff, and hand cut fries were as good as what I grew up eating in Chicago! The owner and her granddaughter were awesome to talk to! Can’t wait to one back and try more!

To support a local small business I gave this place a shot. Though the service was amazing the bread was mushy. I completely understand that this is the Chicago style expect it was not just steamed it was mushy and couldn’t hold the inside ingredients together. I would hope to see a choice of different options or maybe less of a steamed version. I do thing how it was wrapped did contribute do the over steamed bun. It was wrapped in tinfoil so the humidity probably got to it.

Had to get the Italian beef and sausage combo and was not disappointed. Obviously had to get it dipped. I also tried the pork chop sandwich and thought it was pretty good. All in all this would be a great sunny day sitting in your yard with a drink, meal!

It's a family run restaurant and it shows. The service was great and even the head chef came out to say hi. The decor is perfect with movie posters of Chicago based movies. The food was just like you'd get in some of Chicago's best. Recommend the Italian beef, breaded steak sandwich, and chicken vesuvio sandwich.

Great Chicago Style food joint! The Maxwell street polish and Chicago dog were perfect! The pizza puff was spot on, only grievance would be with the breaded steak, Ricobene’s breaded steak breading holds up to the gravy dip, unfortunately the one I had from the dawghouse wasn’t able to hold it together, but was still tasty nonetheless! I should add that I did take everything togo so maybe that played a factor too. Will definitely be back and glad to have a great dawg joint in the neighborhood!
