This place is great! Super convenient to downtown Holland and local parks. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. If you are a Hilton Honors Member, you'll be greeted and provided a welcome bag and letter....something that seems to have been lost at other properties. This was also the first hotel to offer me a room upgrade as a Diamond Member in over 2 years....and the King Balcony Suite was awesome! Additionally, the $15 credit for each guest can be used at happy hour or breakfast in the morning.
Speaking of happy hour, $4-7 for hand crafted cocktails and tall craft beers...a great deal whether you are a guest or not. Great deals on brick oven pizzas and appetizers too!
We used this as an overnight Staycation from Grand Rapids, we will definitely be back!!!
First room on the 3rd level was really cool, but had a very disturbing ultra-low rumble (HVAC unit on the roof?). On the good side, the team quickly moved us to a new room (smaller and darker). Moral of the story: Don’t put guests in rooms that rumble.
This hotel gets 3 stars simply because of the great location and the clean room.
The negatives:
- lights in the room aren't controlled by the light switches nearest them.
- the shower is very poorly designed
- no mini fridge
- no microwave
- bed mattresses are thin
- poor value for money
Location and staff were great, spent some time talking with Ray at the front desk, he and the rest of the staff seem to truly enjoy their jobs and take pride in their work.
The only complaints I have would be with the building itself. Minimal carpeting causes problems with echos through the halls and make the walls seem pretty thin. Our room had a sliding door for the bathroom that was only mounted at the top causing the bottom of the door to sit away from the door frame at the bottom as well as the track end not aligning with the door frame causing a crack of about an inch and a half of space where one could see into the bathroom.
It was a lovely time and we enjoyed our stay, but there are a few improvements to the building itself that would make for a much better experience.
