Great pizza, salad, and bread sticks. The only real issue I had is that the web site needs some refinements as it's hard to order multiple items.
I wanted to give it a 5... The sauce was delicious. Heck the whole pie was delicious with pepperoni and ham. And hot, ouch even driving home, it was too hot to eat at first. The only reason it's not a 5 was the cook had his cell phone to his ear the whole time I was there. Hand on phone (some of the dirtiest items), then making Pies, then back to the phone. No hand washing in between. Come on guys. The only saving grace was the pie was so hot,it killed any germs. :-)
When you're talking about a pizza place, who really cares about the interior? Not me. It's the pizza that counts! I'm either getting it delivered or picking it up. But while taste in pizza is somewhat subjective and varies from person to person, i have to put my hat in the ring for Grpd (now heritage Hill pizza). Their pizza is my favorite. The crust is soft, the sauce is sweet (but not too sweet) and the cheese is... Well, it's cheese. Just what you'd want. Beyond normal sizes of pizzas, they offer large square party pizzas and personal pizzas as well, which makes hhp useful if you're feeding a lot of people.
Hhp should be seen as far above chain pizzas, but not so far as to be "exotic". There's no artisan craft, no wood fire oven, no goat cheese. This isn't Brick Road Pizza, although it does reside on a brick road. It's just a simple pizza joint that does it the right way and better than most.
Expect to pay "Grand rapids prices" for pizza here, but not more than most non-chains. It's hard to beat Domino's or little Caesars on price, but if you want an actual pizza, come to hhp.
One of the few places around has a pesto sauce. Food itself is really good. A little pricey. Reason for one less star is we ordered over the phone a medium pesto chicken and salami with bread sticks, but they made a large with cheesesticks so it was it more expensive than I was planning. My boyfriend had to repeat himself a few times and apparently it wasn't enough. I didn't mention anything at the store but he did throw in a free ranch sauce.
New owners. Family owned and operated. Make their own sauce, bread, sausage and more. Offer late night delivery on weekends, too. Fresh and delicious!
