Very cute diner but not one of the best places in Eastown. Their food is good but don't come here if you're a vegetation unless you want pancakes! I got pancakes and they were great! 5 came in a stack which was plenty for the price and they were able to add chocolate chips. There are no other vegetation items, like at all besides an omelette with basic vegetables. It's the kind of restaurant that considers protein as meat ???? there are so many options out there but this is definitely not a place for vegetarians and especially not vegans! It was cold and rainy outside yet they still had their air conditioning on which made it so cold and chilly! Idk why everyone wants to ruin the extremely short summer that we get... The service was pretty good I guess but the waitress serving my pancakes got the butter that was on my pancakes ON HER ARM!!!! AND Still gave it to me! #GROSS!!!
Good food with a simple but delicious menu that has something for everyone. We had a gluten free person with us and they had more (delicious) options than most restaurant chains. Good food and great wait staff.
Matchbox has excellent food and a unique drink menu in a quaint location. Their turkey Reuben is one of the best in town! I love their diner style burger patties (recommend a double!) and their olive burger is top notch. However, both times I've visited the wait has been very long and it does take awhile for one of the staff members to get to you. I've definitely stood in the door and had waitresses walk right past without asking if we were on their wait list yet. It's a GREAT spot but it is small. Plan on waiting to be seated. It is worth it!
Matchbox is an awesome little cafe/bar in East Town with a very cozy, homey feel. We visited for brunch on a Monday, when they boast their "all-day happy hour!" I enjoyed a "build your own" l mimosa and their "Hippie Benedict" (One of several vegetarian options on the menu). The mimosa was light and not too boozy (perfect for a brunch with mom) and the Benedict had eggs on it poached to perfection, as well as some of the crispiest home fries I've ever tasted. I'll be back for sure! Great for any meal of the day.
I’ve eaten here twice. Yesterday I ordered the BY Benny which allows you to create your own eggs Benedict with a protein, sauce, and choice of veggies. My Benny was good and the food tastes fresh. I wasn’t a fan of the home/American fries.... they just taste burnt. The service was also a bit slow because the restaurant is always busy. Overall the food is good. I plan to go back and would recommend this place to others.
