I hope you have a couple minutes to read a little about my selling to different Chinese restaurants about 30 years. I met the owner, Richard, in 1989. He set a standard of quality unmatched in West Michigan.
1. Beef
Always purchased USDA choice from me. Any other Chinese restaurant used a lower grade and soaked it in baking soda to tenderize it. This results in the outside of the piece being mushy.
2. Chicken
Used large whole birds and processed immediately upon arrival. I have had to personally run half a ton of chicken over to his location in a company vehicle if a truck delivery was delayed.
3.Shrimp
Used non-injected natural product.
Most shrimp is soaked in sodium polyphosphate. ( Read any shrimp label in your grocery store) The only reason is to force water into the shrimp. This increases the size (until cooking) so you pay more per pound for "larger" shrimp. It also toughens the shrimp and can affect the flavor.
4. Other ingredients selected for quality not just the lowest price.
I have been in the back of many Chinese restaurants. This one is one of the 2 best maintained that I have ever been into.
The menu has pretty standard offerings. THE QUALITY IS FAR ABOVE THE REST.
Always super friendly staff. The Owner is frequently waiting on guests and is incredibly welcoming, he also keeps an eye out for regular diners and treats you like an old friend when he spots one!
I've always held this place close to my heart as my parents would frequently come here after Church on Sundays.
It was also my first date with my now-wife and is one of our favorite locations for dinner, went there just last night to celebrate our 1-year wedding anniversary!
Prices are fantastic, food and service are top tier. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the neighborhood!
Ambience was nice, place was clean and well maintained, service was awesome. Their fried rice is amazing and the menu offers a lot of dishes. I always prefer to go with their house combos as you would get a soup, dumplings or crab cheese and an entree. The entrees are limited in house combo and they are very basic in taste. I would recommend adding more entrees into the house combo or at least change the ones included periodically.
My favorite sit down Chinese restaurant on the North side of GR. It's in a great location for an afternoon lunch or dinner date before a movie. The staff is the best, so thorough, kind, and prompt! The King Chunk Chicken is bomb!
We don't have Chinese food very often. I am glad we picked 3 Happiness. Pleasant greetings at the door. (Waiting area small). Our waitress was friendly and the food came in a reasonable time. I enjoyed the Egg Foo Young, and my companions had nothing but praise for their dishes . The only negative is the booth seat backs are loose and the person behind me, kept leaning back and forward, causing the back to constantly hit me.
