Motor City Grits

Let me start by saying, what I had was delicious. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because, they didn't put the cornbread with my meal and when I called to inform them that it was missing, and that I was only a few minutes away. He said that it would be 15 minutes because they would have to make it. Now. How on earth do you need to make something that is supposed to come with every meal. Also they didn't have yams cooked and the amount of strawberry banana pudding was sad. I explained to the guy that I lived in Port Huron which is nowhere near there. I like to give my coin to small minority businesses, but I hate when stuff is not in order. I hope the owner reads this and step it up. Like I said the food is indeed great but being thorough is imperative. I paid $53 and I can tell you I've gone to many soul food spots that are just as good or better and paid less. I'm from Detroit so there are a lot of spots there that are phenomenal. But now living in Port Huron, we don't have places that cook authentic soul food. I would still recommend this place but check your bags before leaving.

I visited Motor City Grits that specializes in grits and I must say, it was an experience that exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming.

The menu was extensive, with a wide variety of options to choose from. As I looked over the options, I was impressed with the creativity and the attention to detail that went into each dish. The menu featured a wide range of soul food options. Their signature grits dish, The Motor City is a must-try, but everything else that I got was just as good. I thought I had great shrimp & grits when I was in NOLA last year, but these were the best I’ve ever had!

Overall, I had an amazing experience at this restaurant. The customer service was great! The two young men who own this restaurant are creating some great dishes. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic meal. Visit them when you can. You won’t be disappointed!

MCG deliciousness !!!! Was worth the hour and three minutes drive!!! Let me tell you I never been to the area and it’s nice and public! The parking was great, plenty space! The establishment is ground level for anyone with disabilities or temporary injuries. The vibe is welcoming and vibrant! Games and vegan option!!!

I was greeted UPON ENTRANCE the establishment was clean even the restroom was clean and the food was EVERYTHING!

MCG, is my little piece of New Orleans within MI!! The portion were large, made with love hot and fresh. This food had much FAVOR! My daughter even said ummm YUMMY!!! She kept asking for more. I was nervous about maybe it would be too much for her! Listen my baby handled them GRITS!!! I know next time get side order of grits and two orders of candid yams!!!

EAT HERE!!!!! Real good food…..one of the best soul food/New Orleans style restaurant in the Metro Detroit area! You can get it all here… fried chicken & waffles, catfish, gumbo, stuffed salmon, macaroni, jambalaya, grits topped with roast, jerk chicken, or the motor city!!!! My family and I love it here, we’ve been twice & plan on going again, this food feels like home ❤️ I wish this business nothing but growth and success, go support!!!!!

I heard about this jewel through a family member. I went last Thursday and the food is bomb. We ordered the catfish, mac n cheese, jalapeño corn, greens and chicken and sausage gumbo and it was really good, food was fresh with great flavor. Darryl and his business parter were friendly and did a great job on the food. I will definitely be returning. Try this place out and support these brothers and experience some good food!!
