National Coney Island

Best National coney island we have ever been too. Lovely wait staff and bus staff that is present and are visibly keeping the dining room clean. The food quality is so much better as well.

I actually don't live near a location of this restaurant but I visited when I was in the Detroit area and was not disappointed. I wasn't feeling adventurous so I just got chicken strips and mozzarella sticks with some coffee. But the server was kind and welcoming and the food was no frills diner fare. Which may not seem all that impressive but I'm a fan of filling foods that make you sleepy and this place really hit the spot for me. If you like simple hearty food in a diner experience I definitely recommend this restaurant and this specific location.

Our waitress was the true star of the show. My 4 yr old had to go to the restroom before our food came out. I let her know and she told the busters not to clear the table. They did anyway but by the time we returned she had already brought out new drinks, flatware and kids menu and crayons.

If that wasnt enough, the rest put her over the top. My son is a very picky eater and did not like the chicken tenders. (They were fine, I tasted them.) When she brought the bill, I explained that but she instantly informed me she would take them off the bill. I never expected that and would have never asked as it wasn't their fault my son is picky. I tipped here enough to compensate for what was taken off and it was well deserved for her.

Atmosphere was calming. Employees were friendly and courteous. Ordered a vegetable omelette with wheat toast and coffee. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal.

This place seems like it’s always busy. It’s your standard National with nothing too special about it. The place seems to be well organized and you’re always sat pretty quickly. Friendly service and always quick with the food. Only negatives are that the floors and bathrooms seem to always be dirty. Also, the hot water in the bathroom is ice cold – to the point where it’s hard to wash the soap off your hands.
