Black Rock Bar & Grill - Utica

A unique experience where you cook your own steak on a 755°F rock cube. First time here was very enjoyable. Sat next to the kitchen and saw all the food coming out. Everything looked delicious. Staff were very friendly and helpful with suggestions. FYI, everyone is cooking their own steak so it can be a little smoky and your clothes will definitely pick up the aromas.

The food was amazing! Don't be turned away by "cooking it yourself". The steak cuts were so tender and every bite was delicious. The best part is, it was warm. Every bite was hot like the first bite. You can put more of the garlic butter to cook it in if you want. You can warm up your sides, too, and all while you talking with your party. Price is high, but so is quality. Also alot of choices are gluten free!

Overall a great restaurant. All cuts of meat we had were generous portions and seemed to be great. I am not sure the long term interest of the “cook it yourself” concept. It is certainly a nice higher end steakhouse but then they try to give a little flair of like a sports bar. Seems like they should pick one direction and stick with it.

Excellent service from Dave!! Very busy but he took AWESOME care of our party of 8. The manager was AMAZING and made sure we were satisfied. The food was GREAT and the service OUTSTANDING.... Definitely a place to come back and dine.

Black Rock was awesome! My boyfriend and I went here tonight for our first time on our anniversary! And was treated great! We did priority seating and waited for about 35 minutes for a table. Other people were waiting more than 1 hour, so no problem there with the priority seating :) when we got seated, we were greeted right away by our server Rachel, she was great all evening! We waited a little long for our dinner, but it was all worth it. When our dinner finally came, the food runner Marisa, was so patient and helpful with how to cook our steaks on the rock. She was amazing with me, and also my boyfriend. Our server Rachel also was helpful with making sure we were good throughout our meal. The manager Jessica, came by, and talked to us. She offered us a free dessert since it was our first time there and for choosing to celebrate our anniversary at black rock. We both ate sooo much food, that instead of getting a dessert, the manager said, she would comp our appetizer we had gotten prior. Our experience at Black Rock in Utica was excellent! We will definitely be back! Thank you Rachel for the great service, Marisa for being patient with us and showing us how to use the rock and also the manager Jessica! Our anniversary was great! We are glad we chose to celebrate with you guys!
