We did German potato pancakes and French crepes and we were not disappointed. Good food, good folks, good coffee. Nice little brunch spot tucked away in the North end of the Main drag (close to 11).
Essen on Main was phenomenal! I tried a few different menu items. From the schnitzel and jägersauce to something as simple as french fries, I loved the quality taste of each one. I didn't know that French onion soup could taste so good, or that a sauce could taste so richly of mushrooms. Chef Brian really strives to maintain a traditional German style in many of his dishes, and was trained in Germany, which is also really cool. This place is DEFINITELY worth bringing some friends to try, and then coming back for more... ????
Super friendly service at this cozy eatery serving German brunch fare. We enjoyed the Breakfast Schnitzel with fried egg and bechamel sauce served on hearty toast and potato pancakes with sour cream and applesauce- something different from the typical traditional breakfast. Coffee could be improved, but overall, a lovely experience. Thank you!
The quiche was very tasty in the beginning but over time can be a bit too much oil and salt. Latte aas strong as I should have expected and I don't really enough strong coffee so much. Overall this German restaurant is small and has a nice comfort feel to it.
My buddy and I were driving to another place to eat when he spotted this place and told me, Essen is German, meaning eat. So that is how we ended up here. When we came inside, there was a lady playing music on the Keyboard, which I thought added a nice touch to the late lunch experience.
We get seated, and then we are greeted by our server Brie. I will never forget her name because she said Brie, Brie like Cheese. LOL
Brie was accommodating with recommendations. I ended up getting The Schnitzel Breakfast with a side of bacon. It was delicious, and My buddy got Crepes with bacon on the side. I also got dessert, and Brie recommended the Austrian Fluffy Pancake Desert with vanilla ice cream.
Everything I had, including the Ice Tea, was delicious.
I have told five people already that they should come to check this place out. I will be coming back.
