Jolly Pumpkin Restaurant and Taphouse

We happened upon this place after a long hot day. The ale was excellent and the pretzel app was outstanding! Our waiter was helpful and funny.

It's a nice and upbeat place in Royal Oak and husband and I are a fan of sour beers. We went here with my cousin on a late evening on a Friday night and got our own preferred sour beers. Can't pinpoint why but we had a better time at the Jolly Pumpkin in Grand Rapids. We'd still come back here though. Oh, and the beers are very expensive. Probably more expensive than the prices in Grand Rapids if my memory serves me right. We were also fortunate to be served by a nice and friendly waitress.

We went on a Friday night. It was busy but we got a table right away. We weren't drinking so we had the waters, they seem to be following the no straw thing, which is alright. We both ordered pizzas. I got the South Pacific pizza with chicken added (recommended by the waiter) and my wife got the cheese pizza. The candid pineapples on the pizza were amazing, the chicken was so so. Over the pizza was pretty good. Huge portions, these personal pizzas were pretty massive. We could only eat half. My wife wasn't a huge fan of the crust and sauce. The cheese pizza didn't look too great, it tasted alright. Overall, it was meh. We for sure wouldn't order take out from them, which to us is a good measuring stick for how good they were.

Great restaurant and craft brews. The whole place has a really good feel to it! The waitstaff has always been super friendly and accommodating even if you're with a large group or with young kids etc. Highly recommended!

I really love the truffle fries and the Jolly pumpkin burger. They do a great job here of seasoning everything just right with herbs including rosemary and parsley. The beer menu is definitely the star here, at least in my opinion. I also love the fact that they were open on a Monday during a blizzard when it seems that half of Royal Oak was closing early. With great service and good food you can’t go wrong here. It’s very clean here and there is a great vibe. 100!
