    Looking for an authentic (don't call 'em "Chicago Dog") Chicago dog? This is your joint! Been around for years w/ an authentic dog steamer and all the traditional toppings! Give these Hippo's a try--you'll be pleased!

    Real hungry? Make the Hippo (Chicago) Dog a Great Scot instead (same traditional trimmings just w/ a bigger dog)... Couple of those and your tummy will be smilin'!!!

    If you are missing Chicago style dogs, brats, beef, and Italian sausage. This is the place to go in the Detroit area. I am a Chicago transplant and I can say it is amazing food.

    If you have never had a Chicago-style hot dog you need to come here this place has an enormous amounts of choices and the people that own and run the place are actually from Chicago... this is the real deal!

    they are not open for dinner however and parking is very limited... watch out for the broken off metal sign in their parking lot.. if you drive over it it will rip your tire open

    I love this place when I'm hungering for a good hot dog. Lots of different options to chose from and it has a cool old school vibe. I prefer the coney and Chicago dog myself

    Visiting from out of town and just happened to drive by this place. Had to check and make sure I was in Detroit and didn't accidentally drive to Chicago. It is like they picked up this place from Chicago and dropped it in Michigan. Super authentic and great tasting hot dogs and Polish. Seems like it is family run and they have quick and friendly service. What a find!
