Al Ameer

Great food. Love the ambience. Affordable. What more do you need? It was first time here and I had a good time. The reason I took off a star is for there service. The servers were clumsy and we had to make multiple requests for small things.

Pita bread always served freshly made and steaming at the table. Menu options are vast and always excellent! You get a lot of great tasting food for a very reasonable price. I always love taking friends at Al-Ameer who always end up very satisfied.

After getting off a plane, we stopped by Al-Ameer on the way to downtown Detroit. We happened to arrive at about the same time as people were breaking their fast for Ramadan, so the restaurant was quite busy. Despite this, we were able to be seated promptly, and our server was both friendly and efficient.
As might be expected from their reputation, the food was tasty and plentiful. For me, the highlight of the evening was a simple plate of roasted baby potatoes. I can't recall the last time that the smell of something being delivered to the table made me so eager to dig in. In addition to the potatoes, we had one of their meat combo dishes, and hummus, providing three big eaters with a terrific dinner and lots of leftovers.
