A good "Lokal" (German bar) in downtown. The beer prices were fair and the food was pretty decent. The history is pretty cool too.
Very cool historic aspect... it's an old bar in Detroit. If you're coming here just because you have a hankering for German cuisine, I'd skip on by. The food was disappointing. That being said, the service is good and the beer list is healthy and long so if a cold beer is what you want, it's the perfect spot.
Bratwurst tasted wonderful! Their potato cakes are way better than any hash browns I've had. Crispy all around and tasty. The bread used for the friendly chicken was thin and tasty.
Quick, friendly service. Very nice interior. Glad I stopped by for lunch!
I wish I visited Detroit more so I could go here more.
We got in as the kitchen was closing, and they were polite, upfront, honest, and fast with what foods were available.
Their craft beer selection was stellar, even including about 20 selections on special, for the budget minded beer drinker.
The bar staff was polite and courteous without being overbearing.
No complaints. Look forward to going back next time in Detroit.
A good beer there is 7 dollars. Yikes! Food was very good and the waitstaff/bartender is better yet. They will be in a world of hurt when she leaves. She was running the joint from wall to wall. Sans the kitchen of course. Sharp girl.
