“This is my spot!!!! I love the owners, staff and husband and wife team. My food is always fresh. The quality and portion size is also great. You get more than what you pay a modest and fair price for. I order usually the Pepper Steak and Rice. It's delicious!!! Real beef and the gravy is superb. I also love the Almond Chicken and brown gravy with Shrimp Fried Rice and extra green onions and bean sprouts. The Sweet and Sour Chicken is also A MOUTH WATERING Experience. I get my sauce on the side for dipping...but when they add it to my white meet lightly battered chicken...it's a great combination as well. Overall, they would get 10 ???? if it was available. This is truly a neighborhood Iconic Spot and local favorite. They have THE BEST Chinese food in the city!!!! Period. When you come to visit Detroit...you MUST STOP HERE. ????????????????????”

“I've been coming to Detroit to visit family for more than 50 years, and one of my great pleasures was visiting some amazing hole in the wall Fish and Shrimp joint most of which are no longer around (we miss you Dot and Etta). However upon recommendation from a local I decided to give E & S a try, and boy am I glad I did. The Fried Shrimp was exactly the taste that I was looking for, complete with what my fiance (new to this style of cooking) described as way to much breading, and too much hot sauce. It was absolutely amazing, and I can't wait to go back. A warning though this is a Cash Only establishment, so make sure to stop by an ATM to get some cash before you go there.”

“Don't Go here in a rush. 30 min wait to sit. 1.5 hours to get your appetizers. And the Bartender can't get drinks out in time. Cook sends out food out of order. Half our table got food. Half didn't eat until 20 min later. Server was nice but couldn't do everything. Just basically apologizing and trying to make up for others incompetence. Horrible experience. The manager didn't even come out to apologize for wait. Sat. At 9:00pm was busy? Nope just untrained staff. They need to fire everyone and start over. Poorly ran. Don T waste your time.”

“This place fascinates me! I have never successfully placed an order. When I have tried the drive through, they always direct me to order at the window, which necessitates waiting in line—so then I would have to wait again.. not really the point of a drive through, or worth the time, so I leave. This has happened probably 10 times; the place right by Meijer, so why not? Today I thought it would be interesting to go inside—surely I would be able to order something at least. But no one was tending the registers, so I waited for about 10 minutes. There were some other customers there waiting for the food that they had somehow ordered and paid for. Everyone seemed pretty annoyed and they were asking each other how long they had been waiting. There were a few employees waiting at the end of the grill line bagging things and diligently avoiding eye contact. I eventually left. I am amazed and somehow thrilled that this place is operational and employs people.”

“My wife is vegan and would love to try this place. Good Cakes and Bakes has been recommended to us many times and this morning we finally got there for the first time. We were very surprised by how nice it looks inside. The place is small but has a nice menu with several great sounding options. The food and drinks are delicious, and my wife really enjoyed it! Baked goods have many wheat free, soy free, and nut free options on top of being 100% vegan. The eating area is small, but colorful and cute. Excellent flavor and good portion sizes. We brought home several terrific looking desserts but wanted to get this review done before I forgot.”

“The wait is extremely long which I believe makes the food quality poor. They can’t keep up with the demand. I did enjoy the hot cocoa during the cold November but had to send my meal back. Food tasted straight out of a can ????. What a shame. The server was very friendly and that’s something I do appreciate. One star for the decor, one for the server and one star for the hot cocoa and specialty punch they serve (I’ll go to get that to go).
