    Their hamburgers are a MUST HAVE. So delicious

    David Gilbert is a talented chef. The dishes that remain from the restaurant menu (Escargot, Steak Tartare, Creamy Risotto) are gourmet tastes. Les pommes frites are genuine Paris. The bar shelves, like the menu, secret unique tastes (an ’82 Armagnac). Sadly, these refined offerings from an elegant restaurant that would have been embraced in world-class cities did not pay the bills. Thus, Marais has morphed into a market plus bistro whose offerings bridge the value-conscious hedonist (Burgers and Beignets) and the epicurean (Croissants and a Callebaut Charlemagne). Perhaps, when the name Marais (Fr. Marsh) was chosen based on geographic history, Chef Gilbert did not realize that Grosse Pointe has not outgrown its swamp and ribbon farm roots.
