Shimmy shack is a fantastic must-stop with extremely friendly staff, wonderful decor, and great atmosphere. We dropped by on a whim as we were travelling and loved it so much we had to stop a second time before leaving town. The employees were enthusiastic, kind, and welcoming in a way that made this place really stand out. This would easily become a regular dining location if we lived in town. Even as a meat eater the food was delicious and filling, the extra assurance of a 100% gluten free kitchen was an added bonus. 10/10 would recommend a shimmy shack stop to anyone in the area!!

The food is good. It's not great, but it's pretty good. Service is often slow, so carry-outs should definitely call ahead. There's never more than two employees working when I've been there, so if there's a lunch rush, you're gonna wait. Also, the eccentric decorating includes some furniture that isn't in the best of shape. It's supposed to be like a diner, but looks more like a grandparent's basement.

I've tried several items from Shimmy Shack.
What keeps it from being great is balance.

The fries are a hit. Both sweet and regular fries are great.

Their chili is flavorful, but there's no texture. It's just well seasoned wet beans and tomatoes.

The nacho cheese should be replaced with a softer, more liquid style nut cheese. The big clumps of their chosen vegan cheese don't work at all for nachos. Pick up one chip and ALL of the cheese is coming with it. Plus the chips are soggy within minutes due to the chili. (Hey Shimmy Shack: try blending or mashing some of your beans to get a more chili like texture).

The burgers are often overloaded and a touch dry so, while tasty, aren't always the most pleasant to try and chew. The Shimmy Sauce is fine (it does the job), but other sauce options could be fun. The burgers are smaller than a burger you might get at some other restaurants. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but get some fries if you walk in there starving.

Positive note: everything is fresh and cooked to order. The staff is always friendly.

Shimmy Shack is an amazing spot for vegan and gluten free food. Not to mention their amazing decor! This place totally transports you back to a 50s tea room, and instead of tea they have awesome burgers! The owners are constantly looking for advice, feedback, and make changes to accommodate. Love their shakes and cookies! But their gyros are the real heroes.

It's great to have a vegan restaurant so close to home. And the burger is amazing. Friendly people, tasty food, vegan/gluten free menu. All this adds up to a great place to eat
