They dont have Thalis anymore -which is a bummer since I specifically visited to eat a thali! However, their lunch buffet was fairly priced (20, so around $25 after tax and tip) considering it had a wide variety (even Lamb!) and it was flavorful. The naan in particular was delicious.
I wish I can give out 4.5 stars -- I was disappointed in them not having thalis, but they were kind, prompt, and the buffet was flavorful (though not spectacular).
Really tasty food the shrimps curry with garlic naan was excellent.
Dessert,
I got sweet rice. Not very sweet , very made with coconut milk,, but very good.
I'd recommend this restaurant if you feel like Indian food, if your Chanhassen, MN
Simply amazing food. The restaurant was spotless the staff friendly. I think it’s safe to say this is the best Indian food I have ever had. The food is so fresh, seasoned and cooked to perfection. The pakora was so crisp and fresh without being greasy, the dumplings were a delicious addition, the naan obviously fresh and hot. We also had Chicken Tiki Masala with big chunks of chicken that was seasoned exactly as we ordered. We ate every single bite of our meal, most at the restaurant the remainder within 2 hours of getting home. We will return every time we get to the cities!
Excellent food quality here. The momo's were fresh and delicate, each dish was seasoned well and tasted amazing. For dinner it takes some time to get your order as it's being made so get appetizers or naan to tide you over. Highly recommended!
Thaliwala, a Nepali restaurant located in the southern metro of the Twin Cities, fills a much-needed gap for authentic Nepali cuisine in the area. As the owners also own the popular Nepali restaurant "Gorkha Palace" in the downtown area, my expectations were high, and Thaliwala did not disappoint. The menu style and food maintain the same level of authenticity as its downtown counterpart.
During my visit, I tried the Vegetarian Thali, and I must say, the flavors took me back to Nepal. The "Saag" cooked in ghee had that distinct taste that reminded me of meals made on a traditional "chulo." The Vegetarian Momos were equally delightful, with an appealing presentation and generous portion size. The price of $13.99 for a plate of 12 momos is excellent, and I hope it remains unchanged in the future. One minor downside was that they did not provide hot sauce as a default option for the momos, and there was an extra $1 charge for it. It would be great if they included hot sauce without the additional charge.
We also ordered the "Pakauda," and they were equally authentic and tasty. The restaurant itself has a cozy ambiance, and the staff is welcoming and friendly. I particularly appreciated their decision to add an 18% gratuity to each order to provide benefits to their staff. This demonstrates their commitment to their employees, and I applaud Thaliwala for taking this step.
Since Thaliwala is a relatively new establishment, having opened just three months ago, I look forward to returning in about a year to see how they maintain their standards. Based on my experience, I believe it has the potential to become one of the best Nepali restaurants in the Twin Cities.
