Good standard cocktails, and the fish is done well. Not limited to North Woods catches, one can also often order seafood like crab or halibut. I was surprised not to find a featured walleye dish. The spinach artichoke dip with pita chips would have been better with less salt.
Service is attentive and reasonably accommodating, though seating fills up quickly on a nice summer evening, as one would expect. Reservations are a good idea after 5 pm, and the dress code may tighten up a bit, depending on where one would like to sit.
Of course, the main reason to come to Bar Harbor is the location, and there is plenty of lakeside patio seating. Umbrellas offer some shade, an outdoor bar cheers the atmosphere, and when the weather turns cool gas fireplaces keep it comfortable. Motor, paddle, or bike up to Bar Harbor and relax for a while.
Great service, great atmosphere and great food. The crab cake might be the best I’ve had and my bistro steak was delicious and offered a nice twist that made it tasty and more interesting than the norm. The deep list of excellent bourbon was icing on the cake.
My wife loved it too; she had the halibut special with o”gratin potatoes.
We saw the billboard ad for this place on the way into town. It sits right on the water so you can pull your boat right to the dock and go in.
Make a reservation during this time since they have to social distance. We did have a little problem with getting a seat as the 1st hostess was hell bent on not finding us a place. But literally 2 minutes later a new hostess came on shift and sat us right away....very weird.
But on to the food...we go a draft beer and a Moscow mule.
We got the spinach artichoke dip which was pretty good ...the chips they used were a great choice. We also tried some of the lobster corn chowder. It could have bee. Thicker it was a little runny but not bad.
We also got a ceasar salad which was just ok but we had the watermelon caprese salad that was an ohhh okay moment. It was lowkey good. For entrees we had the surf and turf and rib eye. The cheesy hashbrowns were on point!
Service was not bad but this place would have got a 4 star rating if it wasn't for the 2nd hostess who actually was helpful. She also looked really cute in her floral jumpsuit the mrs wanted her to know that.
All and all good experience and I would go back for sure.
Ate here for lunch one afternoon. Tables were by reservation only, but we were able to sit at the bar. Food is pricey, but good. We chose the crab cake as an app, and had the chicken sandwich and walleye sandwich for lunch which both turned out great. Fries are standard/average.
The hostess/wait staff could probably be a little friendlier, the bartender was the only one with great customer service/social skills.
All in all, great view with good food, even if a little expensive.
Great place to stop on the bikes. Amazing food and service.
