Nancy's Cafe

Fast friendly service with a smile! And happy waitress that obviously loves what she does. My first time here, and first times for me are always burger & fries. The burger was great. The fries in my opinion were ugh. Skinnier than MacD's, so all I tasted was fry oil. I'll not order them again, but will go back and try another item. They have plenty of good home cooked breakfast and lunch items to choose from. This place might just be a hidden treasure (hold the fries). BUT just hope you DON'T need the restrooms. Tiniest one person thing I've seen since Grandma's pocket door one off the farmhouse kitchen. Really hard to squeeze in the itsy bitsy door far enough to close it & sink is in the hallway.

Food is pretty good. Both meals were tasty, but weren't terribly memorable. The service was okay, I'd have liked a little more attention, but they were busy, so I can't be too harsh. The atmosphere to me is what makes it a non-return for me personally. It's...very crowded.

Even if other customers are paying attention to where they are seated, it's highly likely that you can reach half an arms distance and touch a stranger, meaning you WILL be touched unexpectedly in this restaurant, consistently. It's not a good feeling. Based on the Albert Lea fire code, I think they've identified a way to breach near maximum capacity, but I have no way of verifying that.

Go there if you like great food and great service. Get that home town feel in a clean comfortable Cafe. New owner is making some changes but leaving some things the same. Stop in for a bite, you won't regret it! 👍
