Hometaste Hong Kong Cuisine

We were greeted with a smile and sat quickly. We ordered 3 plates of dim sum after having an incredibly disappointing experience at Legendary Spice on the second level of the Asia Mall where we walked out (and got an refund) after being served lukewarm food. From Hometaste Hong Kong Cuisine, the 3 plates we ordered came within 10 minutes and were hot and delicious. Everything was fresh and flavored well. They even gave free tea when they seat you! We will be back and will recommend this place to all our friends.

Nice to see another option for Cantonese food, especially since they serve Dim Sum. We really enjoyed the green beans, salt and pepper squid and the steamed pork dumplings. The dumplings were huge and flavorful. Squid was tender and perfectly seasoned. They roast their own duck and pork. Plenty of large round tables to eat with a group or family. My only complaint is that they had four TVs going and one of the programs had chefs killing and preparing live animals. It was a bit much for me.

We were there for lunch so the prices were a bit lower. Dinner prices are too expensive. Water and tea were brought out right away, which was nice for a large group. Mongolian chicken was very good, not very spicy. Egg rolls were delicious and the fried rice wasn’t very fried. The sole (fish) was too greasy and had a lot of spices sprinkled on top, I wouldn’t recommend. The chicken broccoli was wonderful as was the Mongolian beef. Server was outstanding and food came out fast!

We had couple traditional Cantonese dishes and they taste authentic. The beef chow fun was a bit greasy than other places but the pot was really good. The fried fish was so so. We also brought the duck wings to go and that was pretty good too. Overall the food was good but pricer compared to other Chinese restaurants in Twin Cities.
