In these trying times I hope that Al's Breakfast shall live on. It is the most incredible place to have a black cup of coffee and some good hash with those perfect poached eggs. To say this place is iconic is an insult. It is a god damn national treasure and should be preserved infinitum through all of mankind like the pyramids.
Wonderful atmosphere , food , and service ! The cook and the guy running the counter were awesome ! Laughing singing and putting on a show ! Eggs Benedict was amazing and the Hollandaise sauce was made the correct way , nice and tangy !! Thank you for the great experience! We will be back ????
Saw this place on Diners, Drive ins and Dives. Happened to be in the neighborhood for a convention on campus a few blocks away. Saw it and remembered the episode. We had to stop. Very small space. I think I counted 14 stools. Huge flavor! Breakfast was so amazing. Huge portions, very reasonable price. This is an iconic restaurant, and an experience you do not want to miss. Friendly tip, make sure your whole party is present before you get inside. If you are near the University of Minnesota, be sure to stop at Al's Breakfast.
THE very best diner in Dinkytown! The staff are friendly and the coffee is always fresh and hot! Their food is reasonably priced and well worth the money. Food at first sight may look a bit overcooked but they are deceptively delicious. Oh and their hollandaise sauce is mind blowing good. Omelettes are soft on the inside and fluffy. Scrambled eggs are on point. Just make sure you go there before 1pm because they won't serve food after.
There are 14 seats in this place and there can be a wait but it is worth it!!!!! Great diner breakfast made old school. Great service and all very at low prices. The corned beef hash browns are a must, the bacon cooked perfectly and the flapjacks amazing!!! Great vibe in a place that has become an institution for a reason!
