Been awhile since I'd been. Instantly remembered all I loved about the place. Great food in a cozy spot and just the nicest staff. Felt like home. :-)
Amazing food, excellent service, very quaint environment. Would definitely go back.
we ate here when visiting minneapolis for a girls weekend and the food was absolutely amazing! The drinks were on point and it was quality food for a great price! 10 out of 10 would recommend
I've been to this place twice now for work meetings, and I can see why our owners choose it. The food is incredible - I had a spicy chicken sandwich the first time, made with ghost pepper jack, and it was fantastic! The intense heat you expect from the ghost pepper, but not too much so that it overpowered the flavors paired with it. Most recently, I had the Crab Cakes. I didn't expect to be as impressed as I was. The texture was perfect, not too soft (they use lump crab, not shredded), the outside was fried up to crispy perfection, and the sauce they served with it was the most delectable balance of cool and creamy, with just enough of a Cajun spicy flair to it. The asparagus it was served with was cooked beautifully. I will be back, possibly with my wife for a date night. The best part is, being on the edge of downtown, it's not terribly difficult to get to!
This place is a true Minneapolis classic gem. Historic, yet the food is totally contemporary. Great wait staff with a welcoming, intimate, comforting style. One of the best stocked bars in Minneapolis. The weekly specials on the boards are always an adventure, while the regular menu continues to contain some of my favorite dishes. Drinks and appetizers? Try the nachos with a Boodles gin martini. The atmosphere is rustic and intimate. Go early because it gets crowded... And for good reason... Eli's remains, after all these years, one of Minneapolis' best restaurants.
