Sammy's Pizza Restaurant & Tavern

I’ve always thought they are pretty average when it comes to their food. Nothing really stands out to me that would make the food any better then what you make at home including the spaghetti sauce.
The clam chowder however had an interesting spin.
Sauce is to salty tasting.
Portion size very reasonable for the price.
Nice atmosphere.

First time back to Sammy’s in years (we just moved back to the area). It was an extremely busy Thursday evening - but we just sat at the bar. Pizza took less than 30 min to get to us. I filled up on salad bar while we waited.

It was very noisy, however service was great and pizza was fantastic- just as I remember. The remodel is fresh & open.

Like others have shared, Sammy's is awesome. You could tell it would be the dining treat of Grand Rapids just from the street! Inside it was busy (hockey tournament on) but the staff and kitchen were as fast as you'd want. Great service and check out the pizza photos! One was the Hamburger with pickles pizza (yuck, I hate pickles!) and mine was the deluxe one. Nice thin crust and my partner had left overs of his pickle pizza! Would definitely eat here again. Prices were reasonable too.

They were very busy, but it was a Friday night during Cabin Traffic rush hour, so that's to be expected. Had to wait quite a while for the food, but they did warn us about that prior to ordering. Food was good, but not great. I loved that they had a salad bar. Harder and harder to find those these days. Pizza was thin, and was too wet. I did appreciate the way they had one piece of sausage on each slice. Would definitely return.

Great spot for some good appetizers and pizza. We did take out and they were very busy so it was about an hour wait for food but that is okay! We got Nick's special for the pizza and the loaded tots, I think it was called keg tots but not super sure! Delicious!
