Appeldoorn's Sunset Bay Resort - Lake Mille Lacs Lodging

The buildings were beautiful!!! The beach is amazing. My room was terrific, so fresh and clean! I definitely recommend renting a boat, such a nice and relaxing lake. I would also go to Sunsets for dinner, amazing service and food. 10/10 recommend!

We spent two nights at Appeldoorn's while we were attending a family reunion. It was wonderful! Beautiful sand beach and gorgeous sunsets! The rooms were well appointed and very clean. Great place for families! Look forward to staying there for our next family reunion!

This was our family's third time staying at Appeldoorn's Sunset Resort. The first time (fall 2022), we stayed two bedroom cabin that had a large living area. The living area came in clutch as we hosted family while our young kids slept. During this stay, our kids enjoyed their time on the playground, but most of the playground was well-used and needed some updating. During the second stay (June 2023), we were pleasantly surprised by the addition of the kangaroo jump pad (this was a smashing hit for our 2 y/o son). This time we stayed in a one-bedroom lodge room, which easily fit our family with two pack-and-plays. We enjoyed the food at the restaurant and were impressed by their service with how lightly staffed they appeared. During the third stay (Aug 2023), we were shocked. They added a ton of amenities to help us entertain the kids: a second inflatable bounce pad was added behind the patio bar and grill, a new playground, and new pickleball courts. The water had a ton of really cool slides, toys, and floating toys, which were free for us to use. The continental breakfast was pretty good, and it helped fill the void of the patio restaurant being closed for breakfast.

Overall, we have enjoyed our time at Appeldoorns and look forward to future stays.

Amazing service, staff, and lodging. The rooms had plenty of air conditioning and were very clean. It has a great beach on the lake and many activities for kids (jump pad, jungle gym, paddle boats, playground, etc). I had a great time and can’t wait to come back!

A wonderful place for a family vacation! The beach is awesome with tons of floaties and water toys. My kids never want to leave! The cabins have the perfect cabin vibe and there are so many options you could fit any size crew!
