Black Coffee and Waffle Bar

Cool place. I don't know if it is being close to campus that is it's downfall but the vibe and food were okay. I'll go back and probably have to try a few more things there to fully get an opinion formulated. The place, at it's best, is a great concept. Just lacking that magic flare that would make it amazing.

I'm new to St. Paul, and this is the first breakfast place I've been to so far. The first thing I'd like to say is:
the waffles are amazing! I had the one with peanut butter and bananas, and it was the best waffle I've had in a while. The last time I had one this good was at a place called The Little Goat in Chicago.
My only complaint is that the place was packed, and it was difficult to find an open table. The small parking lot was full too, so street parking was the only option. Albeit I went on a Saturday during brunch hours, so it's on me. I can say it's entirely worth the wait.
I can't speak to the coffee aspect of the Black Coffee and Waffle Bar, since I got a hot chocolate instead. An amazing hot chocolate that soars above and beyond any old powder mix I'd have at home. If you're not into coffee, try their hot coco or their tea; they have a good selection to pick from.
Seriously, I came here last week and I still think about that waffle.

Best waffles and combinations anywhere!

A nice menu of different combinations of ingredients to satisfy any of your waffle desires! I never knew you could put that many combinations together for waffles. High quality food and ingredients. Casual atmosphere, self service (order at counter and they bring food to you). I will go again. Waffles are good anytime, not just for breakfast!

What a great place! This was my first time, and the waffles were absolutely amazing! Definitely worth a visit for brunch (or in my case, dinner). The one employee working was super friendly and very fast. The whole restaurant has a laid back, fun vibe and we really enjoyed it!

My 13yo son and I went for the first time today/Sunday around 930a. Being parallel-parking challenged I was fortunate enough to find an easy spot to pull into a short walk away. I initially thought $10 per waffle was a bit steep but then decided I was okay with that since this is a local shop. My son ordered the Strawberry Cheesecake and I ordered the Naughty waffle. And while the wait was a bit longer than what we were anticipating, this did give us extra time to catch up and just yap. The presentation of each waffle was delightful and was just as delicious. My son said it was definitely worth the wait.
We almost did not bus our own table! I just happened to catch a sign by the condiment area; if we sat closer to the door, we would not have seen it.
Staff was courteous and helpful, and we will definitely come back.
