A cozy spot with impressive cooking chops. From the chef’s counter to bar to the main dining area, you can experience the menu and the space however you prefer. Pastas were a standout and seasonal starters were tasty and enjoyable. The wine list is interesting and worth exploring so suggest making room for a few glasses. 🍷
First time dining here for an anniversary on a Thursday. We made reservations a few weeks earlier but saw some open chairs by the chefs counter if you are walking in. Everything was very tasty! The cocktail menu was unique and delightful, no names just categorized by adjectives like earthy and floral. But to charge the same for a pull proof cocktail and no proof cocktail was a little strange.
Otherwise our food came out tapas style and very fresh, the lamb and raddichio was flavored nicely. I think the miso cheesecake was a highlight. You can't go wrong with anything here. There's a nice little general store next to the restaurant with jams and seasonal items that may be used in the dishes served but was closed by 7pm so we couldn't browse much.
Wow, this place was just incredible! I visited here for a special dinner and it was the perfect choice. The food was absolutely delicious: the flavors were all so interesting and I loved everything I tried. The cocktails were excellent too, very tasty and well-balanced. Our waitress was friendly, helpful, and had perfect timing. The ambiance of the space was so cozy and pleasant, the decor is really well paired from the intricate floral chandelier over the bar to the abstract art on the walls. I had such a wonderful time, I can't wait to come back and hope to try sitting at the chef’s table or their happy hour soon! I definitely recommend checking this place out 😊
Herbst is a neighborhood gem! I've been here three times and it keeps getting better. The first visit was just after the restaurant opened this summer and it had all the elements you would hope for, just needed some refining. Since then, I've been back twice and was pleasantly surprised by the leaps and bounds in service and food. The selection of food and drinks is delicious, creative, and just fun. You can feel the care and attention that the team has put into making this a food destination!
Highly recommend the Herbst soda, sweet potato w/ roe, and their rotation of desserts has yet to disappoint.
We came to Herbst for a date night and had the loveliest time. The food was superb, the service was excellent with friendly and attentive waiters, and the ambience was cozy and intimate. The only reason why I gave the atmosphere 4/5 stars is because the music was so loud, and remained loud despite requests to turn it down a tad, that we could barely hold a conversation across the table. Perhaps this was because we had a later dinner reservation and things at the bar were happening on a Friday night. Regardless, we will be back, perhaps for an earlier dinner date, as the rest of the experience was very positive.
