La Monarca Supermercado

I’m a native Chicagoan who knows his hometown’s hole in the wall spots as well as some Michelin starred restaurants, so I was looking for a legit taco joint to add to the growing list of places where I can grab quality grub. This supermercado has some authentic tacos with salsas that stand out there with what my mom (Rest in Power) would make for us at home. These aren’t gourmet tacos that also have their place in but just what you need on a fine afternoon if one is picking up some house chorizo or fresh Mexican queso fresco or some non-preservative tortillas at the counter. Throughly enjoyed the 7 tacos I got of all varieties (went back for four more after having 3) and will be coming back with my son to try their menudo on the weekends. Nothing fancy. But this isn’t about that.

Doesn't get much more Mexican in MN then this place! Chorizo is excellente!

Love the Friday taco deal. Great portions, meat has more flavor to me compared to Taco House down the road.
