Perkins Restaurant & Bakery

Service was friendly but not too efficient. Food came fast. I had a chicken salad croissant. I wouldn't recommend it. Instead of the usual chicken shredded or tender and blended with the rest of the ingredients, I got big chunks of chicken, not blended in with the grapes celery nuts. Barely anything to hold it together. And the croissant was dry and fell apart. I had to eat the sandwich with my fork breaking up bites. Others at my table had better luck than me.

Food was great. Service was amazing. Every staff member I talked to was kind. A well maintained, well mannered restaurant.

My kid loves Perkins restaurants. Basically any time we go somewhere new, we look for the closest Perkins. If we want to do something fun just to do it, we generally go for a long drive that ends with us eating either lunch or dinner at a Perkins. This is the first time I would give them anything less than 5 stars. I would like to think that it was an off day, and that generally the Perkins near the Miller Hill Mall is just as good as all the others, but since I only went the one time to that one, I can't say for sure.

We usually get the same food at every Perkins we visit. We know what the food is supposed to come like. My food came about 3 shades cooler than warm. My roommate's food was incorrectly made, and he ended up throwing it away. My child's food was also made differently than we asked, but he was flexible enough to still eat and enjoy his food.

The server was rarely there, didn't check on us, and we ended up going looking for our bill, because it was never brought. I don't fully blame the waiter though, because this is a busy location and the restaurant seemed seriously understaffed (again, I would like to think this was a one time thing, but I only have the one experience). Also, my child found a sewing pin next to him in the seat. It isn't the restaurants fault that someone left that there, but it is their fault that they didn't clean the seats well enough to spot an obvious risk.

I am mostly giving it 3 stars instead of 1, because I am giving them the benefit of the doubt. It is possible the place just happened to be having a really off day. With just the one visit, I have no way to know. However, I do know that next time I am at the mall and want Perkins, I will drive back across the bridge and eat at the Superior Perkins instead.
