Great little diner. I went and had a root beer float, and they have homemade root beer. It was delicious and the staff were super friendly and relaxed.
First time eating here and we were pleasantly surprised. Excellent onion rings. My wife had the walnut burger and couldn't put it down. Root beer floats come in frosted mugs. I haven't seen that for a while. And to top it off... They bring the food to your car.
The place is small so I can only imagine the wait on a busy night. Our waitress was a sweetheart and was very helpful. Remember to take cash because you can't tip on a credit card. Take care of your wait staff.
We will go back again.
Delicious burgers! Really impressed! My kids and I ate 3 different burgers and we loved them! Great root beer floats, fries and sweet potato fries. Very reasonable prices and friendly service. Great to see a local business so busy, and that it is a classic drive in.
We came from out-of-town and went to Lakeview THREE DAYS IN A ROW! It's that good.
This place was Winona's First Restaurant in 1938. It's a classic!
I recommend eating in your car. But they also have some limited seating inside too. And they do have high-chairs available. On a nice day, enjoy their outside tables, which actually does have an enjoyable little view of the river and park trails across the street.
I haven't tried their entire menu yet. For a drive-in, they have a big menu. But so far, the fried cheese curds are my favorite. They're fantastic!
Of course they do everything well that you'd expect them to... Root beer floats, shakes, cheeseburgers, etc. etc. But they also have unique items such as buffalo and elk burgers. I think my favorite sandwich was actually the salmon sandwich. It went great with an Arnold Palmer drink. And it was light enough to enjoy the rest of the day.
A Winona favorite for many years! Homemade root beer, ice cream, delicious burgers, and fries or onion rings served to your car by "car hops". Dine in counter seating also available. A good Pork Fritter sandwich, also.
A good place to visit. Family owned and operated. Fun and delicious!
