Mammy's Cupboard

Mammys is another must while in Natchez MS. The outside of the building in need of repair but it's still an amazing place to visit. The owner and his family are so sweet. The sandwiches come with a small bowl of soup and potato salad. Homemade bread and the most amazing pies and cakes. I love the atmosphere.

Based on a recommendation from a kind staff member at nearby Stanton Hall, we stopped by Mammy's Cupboard while passing through Natchez. Being particularly partial to pie, it didn't take much to convince me to stop. Once there, the bright and cheery owner ushered us in and immediately made us feel welcome.

From start to finish, our experience was both fun and funny. The owner chatted with us almost every time he walked by our table, whether to joke with us, show us what a certain menu item was as he carried it to another table, to talk about the area, our travels, etc.

We settled on the roast beef sandwich and the reuben. As we began enjoying each, quite extensively, we were further surprised to learn that all the sandwich breads were made fresh in-house. The quality and taste of the sandwiches was excellent! Better yet, each came with a small bowl of vegetable soup and potato salad. The soup was very flavorful and hearty!

To top it off, we had to go for some of that "mile high pie," so we ordered a slice of coconut cream and chocolate cream. Wow! Talk about mile high! The meringue was in defiance of the laws of physics! Needless to say, both pies were delectable. We were ashamed to leave a little behind, as we were stuffed to the rafters.

Overall, not only was the food excellent, but the owner's attitude and friendliness made for such a wonderful experience. It was a delight to see him sweep through the room engaging and charming everyone with ease.

Great customer service and just love the cozy little building ! The turkey with avocado and blueberry chutney sandwich is always my favorite but the other sandwiches are great as well. You have to try the chocolate meringue pie or my fav, the banana caramel pie! You won't be disappointed with anything you order.

The food was top notch. The owners actually came out and talked to us for awhile; they were extremely nice. This place gets a lot of hate, but the origins of the negative remarks stems from the previous ownership. My wife and I had a wonderful experience here and we’ll definitely be back. If you read through the majority of the negative reviews, you’ll easily see that they come from fanatical people who have never even been to the establishment. Stop there for a quick meal and formulate your own opinion before posting a negative review.
