Great catfish fried fresh. Hot hushpuppies served when you arrive. Food is always good always hot and the staff is always friendly. Our family loves it.
The people working there were very nice and the server was did a great job. But for the amount of money i paid compared to the quality of the food wasnt very good. You would think for what you pay it would be great. Not even good. Fair at best. It was my first time but I'll give them another try before i make my final decision on this place.
Went with a fairly large group from church on a Saturday evening and had a nice experience. They accommodated us nicely with a room that seated all of us comfortably that was semi-private. The wait staff was friendly, fast, helpful, and knowledgeable. They all helped each other out to get food out, help with extra needs, and keep refills coming. It had a down home feel without sacrificing professionalism. I ordered the sirloin, turnip greens, and twice baked potato, my friend had the butterfly shrimp, sweet potato, and turnip greens as you can see in photo. The steak was perfectly cooked medium rare, seasoned nicely, tender and juicy. You couldn’t ask for a better steak! The baked potato wasn’t actually a conventional “baked potato” but was little chunks of potato, covered in some sour cream concoction, with cheese and bacon sprinkled over. I can see how some would like this, I however didn’t really enjoy it. You couldn’t enjoy the flavor of the potato, the cream was overwhelming and overpowering. The little chunks of potato didn’t give you the texture of eating a baked potato either. The turnip greens were bland, even after plenty of salt and pepper sauce. I give four stars for service, staff, seating, and the steak! But the sides were underwhelming at best. The salad looked nice, so if I were to go back I would probably order that instead of the greens. I would recommend especially if going with a group, or just a good steak without the steakhouse crowd.
Me and my husband moved out here in Hernando about two years ago and are JUST now trying Catfish Country and all I can say is AMAZING! We got the appetizer plate with onion rings, mozzarella stix, and buffalo tenders. Popcorn shrimp with fries and twice baked potato. Catfish with Mac & cheese & baked potato. And also a kids meal grilled fish with okra and there isn’t one complaint!! Absolutely fabulous and can’t wait to be back!
Catfish country is great!!!! This restaurant is home cooking. Not super fancy or fine dining, just a good ole' country business. The seating and decor isn't anything special.... But the food, it hits the spot! I enjoy the fried green tomatoes as an app, and they give you hush puppies complimentary with each meal. For 4 people (3 steak and shrimp dinners & 1 chicken tender meal + drinks) it was $99. Priced fairly well. Server was great!!! I'm so impressed. We keep going back.
